Preston made a speedy arrival on June 12, 2013 at 1:12am weighing in at 7lbs 11oz and 19.5 inches long (although, we think he was taller, they just couldn't get him to stretch out!)

And here is the story...Preston was 15 days early so we weren't totally expecting him to come just yet. Matter of fact, Matt had wanted to be out of town the night he arrived. Good thing he chose to stick around! That day I had some Braxton hicks that seemed to be a little stronger but didn't really think anything of it because you can have those for a long time! I had gone visiting teaching that evening and had a few more. When I came home I decided I better get a few things done just in case I might be going into labor! Around 10pm I decided they weren't Braxton hicks any more and the contractions started getting a little bit closer together so I implemented a back up plan for the next day and called Shelley who was going to stay the night. I think I was still in denial about going into labor and kept thinking it would stop. They didn't so we called the hospital around 11 and they said we could come in whenever we wanted. I didn't want to go in too early so we stayed home till about 12:15.

This is the only belly picture we took this time around and it was right before we left for the hospital! (it was my biggest one yet!) In the car the contractions were getting really intense. They were also mostly in my back which makes it uncomfortable to do anything but lean forward. When we got there I started having contractions back to back and the nurses skipped triage and sent me straight to my room. I had told the nurses they might want to call the doctor quickly which they did and she arrived really fast.
At one point I heard the nurse tell Matt to go get something from our car. I was in transition and yelled at him to stay! Then they told me it was the camera that was still in the car. I told him to run!! That he did and made it back really fast, thankfully. It was probably around 1:00am when I asked the doctor if she wanted to get the party started! She said yes and so I told her to break my water and I would have a baby! She broke my water and the very next contraction he was born! She hadn't even turned around from changing her gloves but was there just in time to catch him. I was relieved that it went so quickly as I went without drugs again. They laid him on my chest but he wasn't crying or breathing well so they took him away and got him crying. They gave him back and we got to snuggle for a little bit.
After delivery I didn't feel very well. I got the shakes and the after pains were pretty intense. I was also bleeding more than they wanted so they wouldn't leave my stomach alone and that wasn't very pleasant. Then Matt was able to give Preston a bath. Once they finished everything Preston took a nice long nap. As I can't ever sleep in a hospital I sat and stared at him. A new baby is such a wonderful gift and the 4th time around I don't want to miss a minute!
