Ode to nursing and Dr Seuss

In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday this Friday and the monumental moment of weaning Tess this week I wrote this poem:
I am Beth
Beth-I-am

That nurse a baby
I do not like
That nurse a baby.
Do you like
to nurse a baby?
I do not like to
here or there.
I do not like to anywhere.
I do not like to nurse a baby.

Not on a train, not on a plane.
I could not, would not on a boat.
I will not, will not without a coat.
Not in the tube it will show my boob.
Not in a car, not on stairs
I do not like to in a chair.
I do not like to here or there. I do not like to ANYWHERE!

I do not like to
nurse a baby!

If you will let me be,
I will try to.
You will see.

Say!
I can nurse a baby!
I can!
I can nurse a baby, Beth-I-am!
And I did on a train, and on several planes
I did on a boat, many times without a coat.
I did on the tube, people might have seen my boob
In a car, and on stairs (on ancient ruins  in Mexico and at the London Museum of Art)
I did it on chairs.
I did it here and there. I did it EVERYWHERE!

I can
nurse a baby.
Thank you!
Thank you,
Beth-I-am.

Tess can...

Stand up and call us to her crib.

Eat food! So far her favorites are not baby food or cold things. She loves quinoa,
rice, peas and now cheese!

And help get chores done!

Tess 9 month photos

My friend Melissa took some 9 month photos of Tess. Tess wasn't feeling well, but we got a few cute shots. Pictures coming....

Valentine's Day

It was a busy Valentine's day! Of course we had to make sugar cookies. The boys gafawed at my pink frosting so they got brown!
I made heart-shaped chocolate chip pancakes and what doesn't say love
but a side of bacon!

I planned and executed Cole's party at school!
Then Grandma Anna and Grandpa Ron came to visit. (Somehow I didn't get a picture of them) We took them to our favorite place......The Flight Museum. Matt just reminded me that he has never been and we have been countless times! One day we will take him there too.

That night we ate our favorite homemade Thai food! Matt brought me home some flowers and some chocolate. It was a day of LOVE.

Valentine's Day Crafts

I caught the pinterest bug and decided I needed to do a little decorating for Valentine's Day. What I didn't realize is that when a "crafty" person says watch a movie and make this craft, to a non-crafty person that means watch 5 movies, force your husband to help you and kind of make this craft! This is what we got:

I love how the wreath turned out.

I also liked the felt balls.

The ball on the bottom took FOREVER.
Up close it looks pretty cute, but not sure if that one was worth it!

I made several of these balls and in the end started making up my own crafts, that I will have you know took WAAAAY less time. I figured if other people could make stuff up, so could I!

And if I were true pinterest person, all of my photos would
look professional and be spiffed in photoshop....

It was fun anyway. I got some use out of them. I hosted book club and had a "Downtown Abby" party to show them off. I learned a lot and am now thinking about Easter.

Tess at 9 months

Tess is now 9 months. She has become quite grown up this last month and increasing in opinions. She cut her top two teeth On January 28th.

She sported her first french braid! It might be awhile till we try that again. She was crying and I was swearing annoyed at the lack of cooperation.
She can pull herself up now and she LOVES it! She gets into more and more things. The good news is she can get herself down so she hasn't gotten stuck.
She still thinks she is hilarious! Look at those cute teeth.

A Piano

We bought a piano! I have been wanting one for a long time and we finally started our search on craigslist. It is in great condition and plays well. It has been fun to play again although I most often have someone helping me.
Tess has taken quite the liking to the piano. She loves to play it.
Cole loves to help her play.
And he is quite taken with it himself! We have started "lessons" and he is doing quite well.

A boy and a box

Ethan took a liking to a box and played and slept in it for days!

Snowmaggeden 2012

They called this storm snowmaggeden. It wasn't that bad but did cause us to have a fun week of no school and playing in the snow! Supposedly because the Governor declared a state of emergency for two of the days we won't have to make up those two snow days. It is a good thing because the last day of school is June 22nd!

Cool Cole in the snow.

This was about as much snow play as Ethan got. It is hard to play in the snow when you won't wear a coat, gloves, or boots.....
Tess didn't really care about the snow, but she sure looked good in her snow outfit!
Cole played for HOURS! He would come inside soaked to the bone but didn't ever complain.

He was sledding with his friend Jack!

I tried to capture a picture to show how much snow we got but these photos don't seem to do it justice. It was about a foot at its highest level.

Tess at 8 months

Tess turned 8 months on December 30th. She weighed in at 16 lbs and 12 oz.
 She learned how to wave!
She thinks it is hilarious that she has a sign on her tummy!
And she started to crawl at about 7.5 months!

It is a nice wounded soldier maneuver, but she is getting faster!

Sick!

After Christmas the entire family got SICK! Tess started it and then the boys got it and then I got it. Matt had the sniffles for about an hour but that is pretty much all he ever gets! So, the week after Christmas this is how we spent our time.....
Hanging out in our jammies watching movies and playing video games! (I think this was the first time Tess was dressed in a week!) It is a good thing we got Mario Bros for Christmas. All of us play that game! The boys were impressed with my skills.

The cold was bad enough it perforated my ear drum. That wasn't fun and still isn't fun as I can't hear very well.
